Is a vegan diet healthier than the American diet?
The American diet is notorious for its abundance of processed foods and sugary drinks. On the other hand, the vegan diet lacks these unhealthy foods and focuses on foods rich in nutrients. Because of this diet’s focus on less processed foods, many vegans have lower rates of certain diseases.
According to many studies, a vegan or vegetarian diet is effective for weight loss, lowering the risk of cardiovascular diseases, lowering the risk of diabetes, and decreasing the risk of several cancers. However, not everyone can follow a vegan or vegetarian diet because of a lack of nutrients or certain vitamins.
There are pros and cons, and you also have people saying that the vegan diet is unhealthy because you will hardly get a complete set of essential amino acids and vitamin B12 if you don’t eat animal-based foods. However, nowadays, some supplements can solve this problem entirely.
