Janus kinase inhibitors
Another form of biological therapy includes Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitors. JAK inhibitors are a medication that works by blocking certain enzymes, called JAKs, responsible for inflammation and tissue damage in PsA.
The mechanism of action of JAK inhibitors is based on blocking the JAK-STAT signaling pathway, which is responsible for inflammation and tissue damage in PsA. When JAKs are blocked, the body’s inflammatory response and pain and swelling are reduced. This mechanism of action is believed to be why JAK inhibitors are so effective in treating PsA.
