What can I expect when I have prostate cancer?
Advances regarding cancer treatment have improved its outcome dramatically. In fact, most patients diagnosed with prostate cancer are now diagnosed before any spread has occurred. This has improved the outcome of patients. Smoking has been associated with increased risk of recurrence of the cancer after its removal, so it is better to cease smoking after your diagnosis.
After your treatment and whether you had undergone surgery or not, your doctor would follow-up on you at regular intervals to assess the stage of your disease and whether you need additional therapy or not.
