Edamame is a perfect source of protein for vegetarians. They are considered a superfood because they are loaded with essential nutrients like dietary fiber, zinc, manganese, copper, magnesium, and folate. Edamame is also a rich source of tryptophan, an important amino acid to promote sleep. Tryptophan is found in other foods like turkey, chicken, beef, and seafood, but not enough of it is consumed by people.
You can eat edamame as a snack, too. Just rinse the beans well under running water. Add a pinch of salt, and enjoy. It is a snack that will be ready in a few minutes if you prefer, or you can go for dry roasted edamame, which comes prepared to eat on the go without adding extra salt.
